Born in Ukraine, Alexej Gorlatch grew up in Germany where he began playing piano at the age of seven.

He went on to study at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Hanover University of Music, Theatre and Media. A laureate of the ARD International Music Competition, among other prestigious piano prizes, Alexej has performed in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.

A renowned educator, he is currently a professor at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts, after having also taught at the universities of Frankfurt, Vienna and Hanover.
